Welcome to Fire Station 8

Station 8 is located in the Plaza-Midwood community east of downtown Charlotte, North Carolina. Fire engines 8 and 64 respond to older residential areas and commercial structures along the Central Avenue and The Plaza corridors and protect the Plaza-Midwood, Belmont, Chantilly and Elizabeth communities. Station 8 is in CFD’s 1st Battalion located near downtown Charlotte.

Station 8 opened in 1948 and was later renovated in 1998. It is a very unique station for the Charlotte Fire Department. Station 8 is the only two-engine station in the city. Thirty firefighters are assigned to the station, which covers three shifts. The station’s minimum daily staffing is two captains and six firefighters.

Both companies assigned at this station are affectionately known as “Double Trouble.”
