For CFD firefighters, move-ups are part of the job; however, for the firefighters of Station 8, move-ups are a way of life.

Since station 8 houses two engine companies, a large number of move-ups are scheduled out of it. This has sparked many conversations about this topic and begged the question: how many move-ups do we actually average each month? This page is dedicated to finding out.

What is a move-up?

In order to maintain balanced fire and EMS protection coverage, fire compaines are shifted (or moved) throughout the city to fill in where there is inadequate coverage. This imbalance usually occurs during extended incidents or Training Academy activites.
